I was out in the laundry room waiting for the machines to
finish. I started thinking about what you said, about being depressed
when you think about the future. The reason you feel depressed is
because you are basing your future thoughts on the past. So you are
anxious first, then depressed because you are allowing the past to
dictate your future. You don't have to have the same future as your
past, if that makes sense, ha ha ha.
When you look to the future always have HOPE! Live in the moments. You are with your family right
now and remember they will not always be with you. Make those moments
count. Find things that they love and do it with them. The key to
happiness is to help others...really, really! There is no shortage of
people around that need help!
Number one, be thankful for your past, not depressed. Don't
focus on anything bad, focus on the good stuff, good memories. YOU are
WHO you are TODAY because of your PAST. You are a beautiful person, inside and out!!!!!!
Change how you feel about your past, don't be depressed. Look to the PRESENT, it IS a present. A gift. You could have died in
your sleep, but you didn't, you are HERE, now, so be thankful you have
another day to make a difference. Learn something new today, embrace
the people around you and treat them like you will never see them again,
because you may not. Think, speak and do positive things. If anyone
is negative or says anything bad, tell them about it. We should LOVE
everyone, no matter what! We have to love ourselves too. Look in the
mirror and fall in love with who you are, the way you are now.
One time, many, many, many moons ago, I read a story in
Reader's Digest. It was about some Island people and their marriage
rituals. If a man was interested in a girl would go the the Father
of that girl and give him a cow. Basically he would trade a cow for
his wife. So this one guy and girl loved each other from the time they
were very small. The girl was very plain looking, but he still loved
her anyway. So when it was the age for her to get married, he went to
her Father and gave him 10 cows in trade for the girl. She became known
as the 10 Cow Wife. The girl asked her new husband why. He said that she
was worth it and he wanted the whole world to know her value. She
physically and I am sure even emotionally and spiritually, became the
MOST beautiful woman on the Island. Everyone talked of her beauty.
If
we could only see the worth in us, the beautiful person that we truly
are behind this mask of humanity, then lives would change, beginning
with us!
