Of Wearing Kilts

Back in Norman, Oklahoma of all places, in early May 2013 we met a man wearing a kilt.  Sounds like the beginning of a really lame joke, eh?  We talked to him for quite a while and then finally asked him where he was from and his answer was from the Midwest, USA.  He was a gentleman, very sweet and polite.  He had the most beautiful green eyes, a very handsome face and I thought for sure that he was going to say he was from Scotland.  Oh well.  I can dream right?   Come to find out the kilt he was wearing was a Utility Kilt.  His was plaid Utility Kilt and very cool looking.

So, the other day we went to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for the once a month Flea Market and there, again, stood a man in a kilt.  His kilt looked almost like leather from far away and was also cool looking.  I just love a man in a kilt!  I am not sure why, but I find them very exciting.  I guess I figure the man must be very daring to wear a kilt, in this country at least.  It also brings to mind the movie Braveheart, I suppose, which was very romantic, and the MEN in KILTS were very, very brave.

Again, this morning while perusing the news on various sites, I was confronted with a man wearing, not a kilt, but a skirt, so I figured it's gotta be a sign. Swedish male train drivers wear skirts to work.  What is the world coming to?   I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.  Throughout the ages men have worn various items of clothing that could be labeled as feminine to extremely feminine depending on who you ask and on what time period they are from.  I mean look at the forefathers of our country, they wore wigs and high heels.  The first guy who ever did that had to be very brave indeed.

I actually prefer wearing a dress to pants.  Dresses are much more comfortable, though that reminds me of my grandmother who would never ever wear pants, because "they cut her up the middle".  I say, let's all wear comfortable clothing.  Life's too short not to.  If I were a man would I wear a kilt?  If I were big and strong and could defend my honor, possibly.  If I were Scottish, definitely.  I would most certainly want to try one on for size and see what all the fuss is about.   And then, that brings me to one last question...do you wear anything under your kilt?
